I stopped taking Seroxat 6 weeks ago (tapering down from 60mg over 4 weeks). My problem is that I'm still suffering from well documented withdrawal symptoms namely nausea, headache and palpitations. Does anyone know of anything that will alleviate these symptoms until they dissipate? I do not wish to go back on a low dose of Seroxat to resolve these symptoms having gone 6 weeks without them and feeling absolutely fine in myself.

The symptoms of withdrawl are due to the brain/body gettingused to changes in serotonin levels. Seroxat has a short half life in the body so levels go up and down more than a drug with a longer half life(how long it stays in the body) You have come down from a high dose very quickly-I would have advised at least over three months. So thats why its hard-its just chemistry it doesnt means you're ill. The answer I suppose isnt what you want but 10m for a few weeks would ease the dizziness etc. Some people find having a month of Prozac is helpful as it is much more long acting and so the withdrawal effects are in easier increments! Just to say my day job is as a psychiatrist and I have also been depressed and taken Seroxat. Good Luck -it will be OK it just need a bit more time
