Healthtalkonline
At healthtalkonline we are currently looking for volunteers to be interviewed on these subjects:
Pancreatic cancer
We are still looking for a few more people to interview about their experiences of pancreatic cancer. We are keen to interview people who have been diagnosed with this disease. If you would be prepared to take part in an interview please give us your contact details in the box at the bottom of this page so that we can send you more information about the project.
Participating in medical studies
The Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), based at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Trust, is working closely with Healthtalkonline and the Health Experiences Research Group to explore people's experiences of research participation and improve public engagement and awareness. The BRC has funded a fellowship (held by Louise Locock) to conduct interviews with patients taking part in several types of research, including:
- a study of a new screening programme in Oxfordshire to detect previously unrecognised heart valve disease - Oxvalve
- research aimed at preventing stroke by improving our understanding and treatment of transient ischaemic attack/minor stroke
- biobanking studies (where people give blood, tissue, saliva or other samples to be stored or 'banked' for future medical research).
These interviews will be used to create new resources on healthtalkonline, to raise awareness and provide information for patients asked to take part in such research. They will also be used to help inform staff involved in conducting research, giving them insight into what patients feel about research participation and stimulate discussion about how care and information can be improved.
If you have been involved in any of these research studies and would like to find out more about being interviewed, please contact louise.locock@dphpc.ox.ac.uk

Experiences of psychosis
Many people who have experienced psychosis can feel anxious
or concerned about what has happened to them, and
how it will affect their lives. Families, too, may have
questions about what it means, how their relative
must be feeling, and what they can do to help.
We are developing a new section and looking for
people to help us. If you:
• are aged 16 or above
• have experienced psychosis
• would like to share your experiences through
a confidential interview or a video
Please get in touch with us. If you decide it’s not
for you – no problem at all!
Autism
The Department of Health have recently funded an extension to our existing autism sections. We are now looking for people with autism/Asperger syndrome, siblings and grandparents to take part in the developing project.
Youthhealthtalk
Are you 16 or over? Would you like to be interviewed about your own experiences for these sites?
If you can help us with these, please send us your details.
If you want to add your story to any of the conditions we've covered already, please login as a forum user. You can then tell your story in the forum for that condition, and join in with forum discussions.
Children, young people, parents and clinical trials
We are currently working on a new Module on children, young people, parents and clinical trials. We are looking for young people ages 12 to 20 years to talk to about their experiences of being invited to take part in clinical trials (even if you declined or withdrew part way through). We would also like to talk to parents of younger children (age birth to 11 years) who have been invited to take part in a trial about their experiences too. For more information please click here.
Please note that the clinical trial can be of any form or type including medicines and also other types of treatment or care (such as surgery, vaccination, neonatal care, different types of diet, physiotherapy, complementary therapies, etc).
If you are aged 12 to 20 years, or, you are a parent of a younger child and you would like to talk to us about your experiences, please contact:
