Teaching and Learning

Welcome to the Teaching & Learning area of Healthtalkonline, a new resource for professional organisations and everyone involved in healthcare teaching and learning.

Healthtalkonline (formerly dipex.org) has helped to put patient experiences on the healthcare map. Our interviews with around 2000 patients illustrate how people’s lives can be changed by illness and how important it is for patients and families to be listened to and understood by healthcare professionals. Since 1999 when the project began, people from across the UK and from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds have been interviewed about their experiences, and findings from the research have been published on the website in 42 health-specific collections.

Several organisations and tutors in healthcare are already working with us and using our video and audio clips to create a wide range of teaching materials. This new service offers tutors unique access to the views of a diverse range of patients, all speaking from the heart about how they have been affected by illness.

Now we want to make our database of video and audio clips of patients talking about their health even more accessible to tutors and trainers. Our specialist guidance service can identify video clips to feed into

·         lectures and PowerPoint presentations
·         one-to-one tutorials

·         blended and e-learning programmes
