‘Mile of £’s’ Appeal

‘Amount raised to date (July 2011): £20,000’

On 15th March 2011, DIPEx celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Museum of London at an event chaired by broadcaster Jenni Murray. Speakers included Hugh Grant, patron of DIPEx, Andrew Lansley, Secretary of State for Health, Clare Gerada, Chair of the Royal College of GPs and Mike Richards, National Cancer Director.

Hugh Grant launched our ‘Mile of £’s’ appeal through which we hope to raise £75,000 to support our work. Monies from the appeal will be used specifically to make design and accessibility improvements to our existing websites – Healthtalkonline and Youthhealthtalk – and to develop further our new social networking websites – MyHealthtalk and MyYouthhealthtalk – where we are creating communities around people’s experiences of particular health conditions. In addition, we shall be creating new ‘smart phone’ apps for our websites which will expand our reach to a larger audience, particularly amongst young people.
