MND Association The MND Association is a national charity (covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland) working to help people with MND secure the care and support they need, while promoting research into causes, treatments and a cure. The MND Association also runs a telephone and email helpline, called MND Connect. MND Connect offers advice, practical and emotional support and directing to other services and agencies. The service is for people living with MND, carers, family members, Health and Social Care Professionals and Association staff and volunteers who directly support people with MND.

Ability Net is a national charity which helps adults and children with disabilities use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology. Ability Net works in partnership with the MND Association.

The charity Connect (www.ukconnect.org) offers advice, training and resources to help people with speech difficulties to communicate. Their main focus is people whose communication problems are caused by stroke, but some of their resources are also useful for people living with other conditions.

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to assist disabled people with their mobility needs. It oversees the Motability Scheme which enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

A network of independent organisations covering England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, who offer information, advice and assessment to individuals who have a medical condition or are recovering from an accident or injury which may affect their ability to drive, or to get in or out of their car. Remap is a national registered charity that has, for 40 years, provided one-off technical aids which help disabled people of all ages to enjoy a better lifestyle. Every aid is given free of charge to the user. Remap operates through a network of 1,500 volunteers. The professional engineers, technicians, and craftspeople - along with medical and paramedical staff from community services and hospitals - all belong to approximately 100 panels (groups) linked to regions across the UK, with Scotland and the Isle of Man operating separately.
