Last year i suffered with a stroke at the age of 19. I was paralysed in my left hand side. The doctors are unsure as to what exactly caused this but as a result i was taken off the contraceptive pill. They either think this was the cause or that might have torn the artery in my neck. I'm in a very low percentage of stroke patients due to my age. Has anyone else been in the same situation at my age and if so what was it that happened? I really would like to know others out there. I was on warfarin for 7months but thankfully the clot on my brain has now gone and i just hope i don't have to go through it again.

I suffered a stroke at age 50 and the doctors were unable to find a reason for it. After extensive tests and imaging, it was found that my carotid artery was not straight like it should be, but was twisted and coiled which caused to blood to clog in the narrow sections and impede the flow of blood to the brain, thus bringing on the stroke. Today, 12 years later, I am fine, but have to take Plavix daily to thin the blood.
