A man was open about his poor prognosis and that seemed to help his doctors.
Diagnosed with testicular cancer 1991, followed by right orchidectomy and chemotherapy. In 1993, pain in lower abdomen. Left testicle was found to be fibrosed and infected. Left orchidectomy, and testosterone replacement. Also has kidney disease and diabetes as the result of treatment.

He was shocked to hear that major surgery might prolong his life but would not provide a cure.
Diagnosed with mesothelioma in April 2003, followed by left extra-pleural pneumonectomy (left lung removed, together with chest lining, diaphragm, and lining round the heart, and replaced with Gore-Tex).

By the time he was told that he had a terminal illness he was ready to accept it.
Diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas in 2001, followed by surgery and chemotherapy. After having had some chemotherapy he decided to try an alternative therapy, apricot seeds.

Breast cancer diagnosed in 1992, followed by a lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Sarcoma diagnosed in 2000, followed by double mastectomy.

Developed symptoms in December 2001, diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in December 2002, treated with chemotherapy to shrink the tumour, followed by surgery in May 2003.
