She was admitted to a ward for several days so that a morphine dose schedule could be worked out to control her pain.
Ovarian cancer diagnosed in 1998 following breathing and bladder problems, weight gain and bloating, and changed bowel habits. Treated by surgical removal of both ovaries and abdominal fluid, chemotherapy, then hysterectomy and further chemotherapy.

He is confident that when he reaches the last stage of his illness he will get enough morphine to control pain.
Developed symptoms in December 2001, diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in December 2002, treated with chemotherapy to shrink the tumour, followed by surgery in May 2003.

Diagnosed with end stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease in 1986. Also has early heart failure and severe osteoporosis, and is treated with medication, a nebuliser and oxygen.

Regrets that he can't have adequate pain control without unacceptable side effects which would make him drowsy.
Diagnosed with testicular cancer 1991, followed by right orchidectomy and chemotherapy. In 1993, pain in lower abdomen. Left testicle was found to be fibrosed and infected. Left orchidectomy, and testosterone replacement. Also has kidney disease and diabetes as the result of treatment.

The morphine makes her feel a bit 'dopey' but it controls the pain.
Diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer in 1995, which was treated with regular chemotherapy, at least every nine months. In 2003 developed metastases in the spine.
