Dean was deeply shocked when the police called him to tell him that his son had been in an accident. He went to the hospital to see Andrew’s body.

After Andrew died the liaison officer was on the telephone to Dean but he did not visit the house for over a week - Dean felt disappointed and angry.

The family had a Hindu ceremony at home, conducted by a local Hindu priest, followed by a service in the local crematorium. The manager of the crematorium asked them to hurry on.

The coroner returned a verdict of ‘accidental death’. Dean would have preferred a verdict of ‘death by dangerous driving’. He feels very angry and thinks that the law is not robust enough.

After Dean’s son, Andrew, was hit by a car and died, a member of RoadPeace called Dean and offered help, support and useful advice.

The CPS prosecutor read Dean’s Victim Personal Statement to the magistrate. Dean had written about his son’s many achievements and how his death had affected their health.

Dean has found comfort in a Spiritualist Church whilst retaining his Hindu beliefs. Through mediums associated with this Church he has received messages from Andrew which have helped him immensely.
