I was severely injured by a drink-driver as I, along with my brother Tony and our brother-in-law Mike, were walking across a road. The driver was speeding at 65mph in a 30mph zone. My brother died just a few hours later due to his injuries. I am now disabled and my life has changed dramatically. The then 19 year old drink-driver was sentenced to 3 and a half years for causing death by dangerous driving, but was released only 20 months later. How can this be right? Why do the courts not use the power they have to hand out more tougher sentences? The man who killed my brother now has his life before him, while we can never get passed the night he destroyed our lives.
