Born with only one testicle. Testicular cancer (seminoma) diagnosed in 2000, followed by orchidectomy and hormone treatment. Aug. 2001, laparoscopy to check there was no undescended right testicle; no secondary tumours found. Sep. 2001, radiotherapy to prevent recurrence. Then lump found in groin, a malignant lymph node. Surgery to remove node, followed by chemotherapy.

Arthur W. Frank, diagnosed testicular cancer (seminoma) in October 1985. Orchidectomy followed by chemotherapy for secondary abdominal tumours. Author of At the Will of the Body (Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1991; new edition 2002), and The Wounded Storyteller: Body, Illness and Ethics (University of Chicago, 1995).

In 1996, a lump was found at top of one leg. A biopsy of the lump led to a diagnosis of testicular cancer (seminoma). Chemotherapy for three months. Had 4 days in hospital for each cycle of chemotherapy.

Testicular cancer (teratoma) diagnosed in 1997. Orchidectomy, followed by active monitoring (surveillance). Then secondary tumour found in the spermatic cord. Surgery to remove the tumour and 4 cycles of chemotherapy, each cycle with 7 days in hospital and 14 days at home.
