Re:Welcome to the Healthtalkonline Forum on Ovarian Cancer.
Hi
I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in sep/oct 2007 and underwent chemotherapy, then surgery followed by more chemotherapy, my cancer was staged as 3c. My tumour marker count (CA125) was reduced from being in the 800's (soon after i was diagnosed) to well under 20 (at the end of treatment). The surgery involved a full hysterectomy, removal of both ovaries, with tumours being removed from the omentum, The chemo shrunk tumours detected in my nodes.
In Oct/Nov 2008 a blood test for one of my 3 monthly checks revealed that my CA125 count had risen to over 200 though the cat scan that followed did not show any measurable tumours. My latest scan and bloodtests done on the 29th December 2008 revealed that my CA125 count had risen to over 1000 and that my nodes were enlarged.
I am now waiting to hear about being accepted onto a clinical trial for which i will hopefully start treatment very soon
I write this in the hope of being able to share my experience with other people that have gone through or are still going through a simiiar thing and look forward to seeing more posts on this forum as i seem to be a little short of peer support :), I would also really like to hear yours iuf the mood takes you.
Please feel free to ask me any questions about my experience and i will answer the best i can.
