This set up sucks! But:- I was diagnosed by colonoscopy in November 2007. I underwent chemotherapy and radio therapy in early 2008. I had the tumour removed and a bowel resection in April 2008 and left hospital within 3 days complete with a temporary illeostomy. I had further courses of chemotherapy. In February 2009 I had my illeostomy reversed and again left hospital within 4 days. At the end of July 2009 I will have a further colonoscopy and hope that it will show no recurrence. I had little difficulty managing my stoma and related issues. Biggest issue for me was the radiotherapy. This really disrupted my digestion and bowel function and left me going to the WC at all hours of the day and particularly the night. It also made me impotent.
