A breast cancer prevention study (IBIS-II) is looking for female volunteers aged between 40 and 70 years to take part in the study. Volunteers must have passed the menopause and have a family history of breast cancer or other risk factors to be eligible to join. The IBIS-II study is looking at whether a hormone drug called anastrozole (already widely used in the treatment of breast cancer) can help prevent breast cancer in women at increased risk of the disease. More than 5000 women have joined the study so far in 16 countries worldwide, including 2500 volunteers in the UK. Volunteers on the study receive regular monitoring including mammograms and a bone density scan on entry. To find out more about joining the study please visit www.ibis-trials.org (where you can find your nearest centre) or phone 0800 111 4134.
