Brief outline:Back and right leg pain following spinal stroke, 1997. Treatments: Nurse led Pain Clinic. Advice and medication. Current medication: morphine patches and gabapentin. Past medication: amitriptyline, dihydrocodeine.

His nerve pain is much relieved by morphine patches and the anticonvulsant gabapentin.
 
Eventually acknowledged that there were things that he could no longer do and planned for a new but equally rewarding life.
 
Buys in microwave frozen meals because he often doesn't feel like cooking and worries about burning himself.
 
Had to give up his well paid job and now has to be very careful with money.
