Re:Welcome to the Healthtalkonline Forum on Chronic pain.
Hello everyone,I'm really sorry to hear some of the really distressing symptoms and stories about pain.
I've had pain over the years but as I have schizophrenia the doctors have said it's all in the mind, certainly some of the paranoia eg.due to vulnerability to the sound of coughing or traffic has been hard,a cross to bear.
Do look up Sahaja Yoga,a form of meditation which might take your mind off the pain a bit.It is free and tolerant and has a website and there are local weekly meetings in many places around the world.
Re:Welcome to the Healthtalkonline Forum on Chronic pain.
Hi all my name is Andy and are looking for some advise.
In 2005 at the age of 53 I had problems sleeping because of pain in both hips if i slept on either side,I was extremly fit playing rugby, running, training etc without any pain,it was only in bed that the pain started.
i was told by a specialist surgeon that my hips were basically worn out because of over exercise, so had a double hip replacement in June of that year, all was well on the left side but had pain on the right due to a bursar which while being treated in hospital contracted MRSA.
I had the infected hip removed only to have another hip put in which kept dislocataing due to wrong size joint so have now had 3 replacements on one side.
My problem is that I still have the same pain in the right side whilst trying to sleep,I have had steroid injections and pain killers but nothing works.
So Ive gone from very fit and mobile to disabled and have been told by my surgeon that they cannot do anything else for me and wont reoperate due to the chance of reinfection
So I am open to your comments and or advice
Thank you

Re:Welcome to the Healthtalkonline Forum on Chronic pain.
Kate i could not have put that any better myself, i am suffering with adhesions which causes chronic pelvic pain and affects my back and legs too, i am 37 years old and like you have gone from being fit and healthy to being reliant on my children to do the silliest and simplest things, like loading the washine machine!!! Reading your post was like looking at my life too, i struggle with the guilt of being ill but it is not really serious so i should not moan, our illnesses are not life threatening, but life debilitating but even though i look at it like that i still have guilt!! It is good to realise you are not alone, thank you for posting, xx
