Dear Prospectve Participant, My name is Kirsty Hardle and I am currently a student at Wolverhampton University. I am now about to undertake a year long MSc research project. Having worked within Physical Health over the past year, I have gained a real interest in emotion regulation in the management of chronic pain. The aim of the project is to uncover possible reasons for the way people react to their emotions. This is done by comparing responses on a 'Emotional Schema' questionnaire. Emotional schema are memory structures that tell us to respond in particular ways to certain situations. People who have had different experiences with their emotions will respond differently. Responses on the Emotional Schema Questionnaire will then be compared across three groups, Fibromyalgia sufferers, healthy people and also people who suffer from other forms of chronic pain, such as Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis. Dealing with emotions has been demonstrated as being important in pain management. Any difference therefore, will provide support for the use of certain psychological interventions in the management of chronic pain. The questionnaires will be completely anonymous and utmost care will be taken to ensure you confidentiality. The web hosts of the survey also use an SSL to prevent hacking. Understandably, you will also be able to exit the questionnaire and recommence from the point at which they left, should the questionnaire become too much. You can also exit the questionnaire at any time should they withdraw your consent. If you would like to participate, or find out more before making a decision, please access the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=mYOfj8l_2ffLed9Xc8fVNg4A_3d_3d Many thanks for your interest!!
